About The Firm

John and Kathy

I am a solo practitioneer who started his family and criminal law practice in 1992. In 1994, my wife, the former Kathryn Lucille Blanton, a long time Houston resident, Model of the Year winner, graduate of Lamar High School and graduate of the University of Texas, joined me as my legal assistant. We practiced together till 2009 as a husband-wife team, until Kathryn's untimely death ended our association.

I have lived in Texas since 1975, when having been discharged from the Marine Corps, I chose Houston, Texas to settle in. I worked in residential construction till 1979, when I entered law school at the University of Houston. I graduated in 1982 and passed the bar in 1983 (my first testing).

I served in the United States Marine Corps from 1971-1972 as an artilleryman in the 10th Marines and as forward observer in the 6th Marines, two historic regiments. As most Marines will tell you, I remember my years in the Corps as full of challenge and adventure.

Since graduating law school, I have worked in the energy industry and later in insurance defense, till going out on my own in 1979.
John's Daughter
I have raised three little Texans, all girls, into adulthood.

I was born in the Hawkeye state of Iowa, and raised there by God-fearing folk and went to college at the University of Northern Iowa, where I was on the Dean's List every semester. One day in college, a guy in a blue suit set up a recruiting table in the student union. At the time, the Viet Nam War was raging, and was not very popular on college campuses. A group opposed to the War ganged up on this guy, but he didn't flinch. (He'd been at Khe Sanh.) I was so impressed with him, I signed up the next day. That eventually lead to the end of my days in the Hawkeye state.

I now reside in the great state of Texas. I have become very attached to Texas and her people, the Texans. I would welcome your business.
